How can coaching help your business?

Whilst training is the process by which someone learns a new skill or acquires new segments of knowledge. At the end of training, the individual may still not achieve the required standard at all times. True learning occurs when the learner has transferred it from the training environment into the ‘real world’ and made a substantial change in behaviour or way of doing things. This is where coaching comes in.

During coaching clients learn by pushing past emotional barriers and through reflection, realisation and self-analysis. Most importantly the client is given the power to help themselves. Coaching helps people to reflect on their performance in a specific area. Barbara will work the individual to implement their learning within a given context such as the workplace or personal life and therefore improve their performance to take it to the next level.

Benefits of coaching

Coaching is a person-centred activity. Working in this theme encourages the individual to embrace positive change whilst making him or her feel valued, which directly increases their motivation and performance at what they want to do.

Coaching is a flexible approach – it can not only be used to address one-off needs as and when they arise but also be implemented within organisations where at times it is difficult due to cost or logistical reasons to take groups of staff away for off-the-job formal training. This in turn causes the organisation to benefit from performance-related development in a cost-effective and flexible way. For individuals, coaching enables them to gain practical and realistic help to achieve their full potential and work on their areas of weakness.

Coaching delivers tangible results. Many organisations and HR experts already capitalise on nurturing a coaching culture within a company. “According to the ICF Global Coaching Client Study, the vast majority of companies (86%) say they at least made their investment back. In fact, almost one in five people (19%) saw an ROI of 50 times their investment, while a further 28% saw an ROI of 10 to 49 times the investment.” Simply put…coaching works.
